Toucan Camera
Wireless outdoor camera — UX testing & app/hardware flow improvements before public release
- Duration
- Pre-release UX testing
- Type
- IoT · UX research
- Responsibilities
- UX testing lead, Recruited participants and authored protocol, Delivered consolidated findings to developers

Purpose
The Toucan Camera was already at the UAT stage and all hardware parts were developed. I oversaw user experience testing to understand how users interact with the camera — improving product design and the mobile app interface, increasing ease of use, identifying UI and flow issues before public release, and feeding findings back to engineering.
Approach
- Defined testing parameters
- Facilitated face-to-face UX testing
- Authored UX test report and briefed designers on suggested modifications
I recruited 5 users and ran the protocol in a real environment — each participant installed and used the product while I captured video and screen recording (edited to short versions for the team).
Challenges
During real-environment testing, users encountered hardware problems that they could not fix themselves.
Result
Provided suggestions to improve UI icons and revise misleading flows before public release.
