Purpose
The Polaroid XS100i Wi‑Fi sports action camera is built for active shooting: clip it on, capture, and stay in control from a phone or tablet without digging through camera menus mid-activity. The companion experience covers capture settings, remote control while the camera is mounted out of reach, and sharing clips or stills while you are still shooting — so the hardware and the app read as one product, not a camera plus an afterthought.

Approach
- App and companion software features for settings, remote control, and in-session sharing
- Cross-device layouts for phone and tablet beside the action camera hardware
- Prototypes and wireframes for capture and review flows
After comparing similar action devices and real shooting scenarios, I added a delay control for live-streaming photos to make selfies and group shots more reliable when the camera is extended away from the user. Product framing kept the camera body fully visible next to phone and tablet UI so the IoT story stayed hardware-honest.

Challenges
Wi‑Fi component limits caused longer waits and timeouts when loading detailed camera information. The UX had to set expectations, keep remote controls usable on a laggy link, and avoid trapping users in empty loading states mid-shoot.
Result
Launched in 2013 as a Polaroid Wi‑Fi action camera with companion app support for settings, remote control, and share-while-shooting.
